JL - Welcome

Welcome to our first Leslie Rugby blog. It will be dedicated to all the grassroots rugby kiwis from the deep south to the far north.
Grassroots rugby personalities will feature as will their clubs and schools, their best stories their resourceful fundraising enterprises, their social functions, (that will be sure to fire up your natives), their spirit and their glory - all will be blogged.
Leslie Rugby will also be introducing a one on one skills and idea bank for our Leslie Rugby Club mates to access free of charge - It will be titled Dad and Boy (however it's not just for Dad's and their boys - it's for anyone). It will help you to gun up on a whole lot of one on one rugby skills, drills, tricks and games to keep you and your chosen other occupied in the back yard, meanwhile greatly improving your rugby skills.
I was having a beer with Graham Henry some months before the 2011 RWC and we were chatting about coaching juniors. He said there should be a strong emphasis on providing junior players with the right environment to learn and experiment with skills, with a real focus on correct technique. He stated that one shouldn't get bogged down with positional detail when coaching youngsters but great technique in skill. I'm fully with Ted on this one and I'm hoping this Dad & Boy feature will encourage this.
