Leslie Rugby's roots were kicked off in Petone, New Zealand in 1954 by the then recently retired All Blacks super star Bob Scott. He started a business which provided local rugby clubs with their playing kit and after-match apparel.

By the early 1970’s Bob selected future All Blacks captain and friend Andy Leslie to partner him in his Petone business. Their genuine love of grassroots rugby and the people who administered, coached and played it, coupled with their good business practice established Scott & Leslie as the place of choice for local rugby people and their clubs to do business with.
In 2004, Andy’s eldest son John retired from his professional rugby career (which saw him captain Otago, the Highlanders, Northampton Saints and Scotland), and partnered his father Andy in business. After a period the Leslie Rugby Head Office was relocated to Dunedin where it currently services over 270 rugby clubs and rugby playing schools throughout New Zealand and around the world.
